A very unique problem 94 manual 4cyl

Well the older transmissions used gear oil, my TK5 take 80-85w90.

And make sure your neighbors truck has the same engine.

its an 89, same engine side, also a 2WD, same cab, same bed, but all the internals were the same from 88-94 as best I can tell.

Looking on wikipedia I see they used a few 5 speed transmissions from 88-92, but only 1 5 speed in 93-94, but looking on lets say ebay, when they advertise a transmission it sayd will fit 88-94.

so your saying it dies when you let out the clutch does it have a neutal sense switch not working just reaching here

The neutral safety switch is only really used to start the vehicle. nothing more, that way you don't start your truck with out the clutch depressed and have it take off. SOme things like toyotas have the no clutch start button which i would think the safety switch would work then too.

As long as the transmissions an M5OD you should be good, I guess all of the internal parts are the same so you could essentially swap the melted or broken gear out of yours for the good one in his.

ok, after some interesting hours I have put the replacement transmission in, the whole thing is together, its bled, but I dont seem to be able to shift, its acting as if I am in gear, and it wont let me come out of it.

It seems to be in first if that matters

It's possible your shift rails in the top cover, where your shifter enters the trans, is jammed...You will have to take the cover off and knock it out of gear, as well as centering the 1st gear syncronizer...I have a buddy who had this happen to his T18 in his CJ-7
