a new chapter begins, both retired now.

Congratulations! Keep yourselves busy, even if it's volunteering. I've seen way to many people just waste away because they didn't stay active.

^^ +1

keep active!
My own grandparents didn't fare well with retirement, and I have seen it in others too - don't just sit in front of the TV watching matlock, join some local activities and keep doing stuff.

I started my own charity helping the homeless, filling up and emptying out my little Ranger on a regular basis. Here it is, just outside an encampment.

I've been retired for 9 years. so far I've been able to keep busy by doing whatever the hell I want to.
to make matters worse, I refuse to act my age
don't worry, I got this. it might hurt, but dammit I GOT THIS :icon_thumby:

Congrats guys. Looks now it's time to buy a little camper and start seeing all the sites our country has to offer. Nothing but best wishes for you guys.

Since you've been at it for awhile, you've probably noticed that you have less free time now than you did when you were working - it goes with the territory.

And now with your wife joining you...you can forget about, and I quote:
"...doing whatever the hell I want to."

Enjoy PJ(y)

nice!!

congratulations! i will be in the same boat in 8 years. i will be retired and then i will ahve 3 years of keeping myself busy till the wife retires.

it can't get here soon enough, ha ha ha. i have the time right now, just not the age

I retired in 2017 and my wife joined me in 2019. I recommend it as long as you have projects to keep you busy. Remember "because I want to" is the best reason to do anything.
The best thing about retiring for me is being able to start a project without anyone coming up to me and saying "got a minute?". If my employees had a decision they weren't comfortable making I could have just told them to handle it but I'd have to live with the result and not give them crap, so I'd fix their problem and stay after hours to finish my work.
