Im picking up a 97 2wd Ranger for cheap from a family member in a few weeks. I'm gonna use it to get back forth to work and such but I can't leave anything alone. I'm looking into a small drop and some wheels for it.

I'm looking at a Belltech stage 1 2/2 drop and 2011 v6 mustang premium 18x8 wheels and 235/50/18 tires. I'm thinking I will probably need spacers to run the wheels and tires but I'm not entirely sure. If anyone had any answers I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

Congrats on new Ranger. :)

So, the best page I have found for OEM wheels is: https://www.wheel-size.com/size/ford/

Under which it says the Mustang V-6 have a 70.3mm center bore and 44mm offset.

For reference, your '97 Ranger has 70.5mm center bore rims and 10-12mm offset.

With a 32-34mm difference in offset, you probably want 1-1/4" spacers (although that is a subjective thing). You would need 10mm (7/16") spacers for the spindle cap to clear the wheel.

If your truck was running 205/75R15s, the Mustang tires are pretty much same diameter. 4wds ran up to 265s stock, so no issues with width.

Replacing both the front and rear spring hangers at back in the Bell tech kit seems like a lot of work. (DJM uses axle flip/longer rear shackle to do same thing - all wrenching, no grinding/punching rivets out).

See my educated guess on spacers was to run 2". I see I wasn't that far off. And I will look into the axle flip and shackles. Thank you!
