A/c compressor clicking?

Hey guys, i havent yet gotten my rear end fixed, but since the truck went down in feb, i hadnt ever checked my a/c. i became aware of it using the defroster this winter. so after mowing my lawn i fired it up, put it in 4 low(that and 4 high are the only way it will move. any1 who has read my other posts will know why.) and cranked up the air. good lord it is freezing cold. but as the comp cycles on it has a constant clicking. its not too loud and the comp works obvously, but is it just going to seize up on me or is this normal for a 160k mile compressor?

"Fast cycling" of the compressor usually indicates a low coolant charge if the compressor is causing the noise. It can be several othere things also, but if it is cooling, and this is the only symptom, low coolant would be my guess. Watch the compressor with the truck running, and see if it is the clutch making the noise.:shady

no its not fast cycling it stays engaged. it just clicks while engaged

These compressors do make a light clicking noise as the operate. As it ages, the clicking becomes a little more pronounced. Usually nothing to worry about. But, I'm not listening to yours, so can't say for sure.shady

Thanks man. I was just wondering if it may be a sign of the "black death" i read about. I think that article may be here on trs
