I was driving 60km/h coming to a turn went to down shift to 3rd and just grind noise and could not find 3rd. Had to slow down enough to put in 2nd. But when I try to goto 3rd I get a grind noise and also when I choose 4th gear grinds as well.
Any Idea what the problem could be?
Also, now on I have to Rev match to goto 3rd or 4th gear. 5th gear is fine.
Thanks for your help.

Where are you? Ford stopped production and sale of the Courier for the US in the late 70s.

I'm in Australia.
Also its a 4x4 2.5 turbo diesel wlat engine.

Ffs, you get the Barra, AND you have courier with a 2.5 TD? You people get all the cool sh*t...

They also had a 250 CID I-6 with EFI up until about 15 years ago, in something similar to a Ranchero.

Ok, anyway, now to be helpful.

I don't know what transmission you have, or anything about it specifically, just a lot about manual transmissions in general.

If the shift pattern is laid out like a typical non-German transmission is, 3 and 4 share almost all of their moving parts to make the shift happen. The rail, fork, and shift hub would all be shared parts between the two gears, If any of those parts is damaged you won't be able to hit 3rd or 4th gear.

Now we get to the good news/bad news part. There is no way to figure out what happened or what is broke without taking the transmission out and apart. The good news is that it should be easy to find what went wrong once you are in there.
