My 2002 2WD Ranger Edge is completely stock. I'm thinking about bigger tires and possibly black wheels. This is strictly for the sake of lookin cool, I have no plans on doing any offroading and don't particularly want to lift it at all or mess around with suspension. So my main questions are:
Will 31x10.5 tires fit on my stock 15" wheels with NO rubbing? Keep in mind it is an edge. I'm reading things about torsion bars being cranked which is another language to me. Can someone break this down, and would it be necessary?
Secondly, any recommendations for said size tires? I'm just trying to cuten up my truck, no need for snow or offroading capabilities but I kinda want cool lookin tread if that makes sense.
Last, if I get new black wheels, I'm clueless on what brands are lame/crappy. Any suggestions for reasonably priced but still legit wheels?

My Ranger is a pretty heavy duty prerunner so my experiance won't be a big help to you. However my friends Ranger is very simular to yours as yet. He has 15x6 black wheels (the wheels had a chrome dressup piece rivited to them which he removed, a junkyard find) He had 29 inch 70 series BFG T/A allterrains and they fit just fine. In black wheels it is pretty hard to find bad ones if they are new. A good tire store like Americas or Discount will be able to help you.

You'll rub with 31s unless you have a 4.5" backspacing wheel which will kill your balljoints and stick your tire way out. I would stick with a set of 30's with a set of Cragar Soft 8's in a 15x8 with 4" backspacing. The wheels are only $45/pc on Summitracing.com

With the edge model it should have the same suspension as the 4x4's and be just as high. In which case 31's should fit just fine. I have 31's on my 4x4 with a stupid amount of clearance between everything. I am thinking I need to get some 33's for it.

31's with 15x8 rims works great, 15x7 stock rims should be the same. Your next bet is to just get some 30x9.50's or 235/75's which are pretty much the same size and the 235's would be cheaper and easier to replace.

stock wheels are 4.5" backspacing.

Its also an edge I thought they all sat the same height as the 4WD ones which means 31's would be fine on the stock rims. Since they kind of came that way...

If you don't know what your talking about... don't give advice? :annoyed:

A 265 on a stock rim, or a 31" tire (same size just metric/standard sizing) will fit fine and if they do rub a little you can adjust the torsion bars. Chances are if you talk to the guys at the tire shop they'll be able to adjust them up for you if you ask them incase they do rub.

You can get aftermarket wheels, but they're not necessary. :icon_thumby:

I agree, you don't know what you are saying.

I have 31's on my 01 EDGE and they are phenomenal. 15x7 alcoas with 4.5" backspacing.

Post 63. I also cranked my t-bars about an inch.

I've got stock aluminum 15 inch wheels that I painted black and have 31x10.5/15's on and theres no rub. Completely stock truck. Edge addition 2wd. You shouldn't have any trouble fitting 31's
