What front diff is used in the '99 4WD Rangers? and what upgrades are available to beef it up?

Thanks!

Yep, D35, however the SLA-IFS version has a non-standard differential carrier which greatly limits your locker options (I thought the Aussie was available, but apparently the Powertrax No-Slip is the only option left that I'm aware of, TTB/Jeep D35 lockers won't fit it). The CV half-shafts aren't all that durable for serious locker use either.
Standard (low-pinion) D35 R&P gears do fit it however (deepest available being 4.88).

If you're thinking of doing any serious offroad work, I would suggest swapping of that IFS out for a D44 straight axle (do a search for SAS, or straight axle swap).

No way. . .I'm doing a prerunner so no solid axle for me. . .thinking of upgrading to a full-size truck front IFS diff upgrade.

Ahhh... (you didn't mention that in your opening post):icon_twisted:

That would be cool if you can fit the HP 8.8" diff & half-shafts from a F-150 in there somehow. I suspect you may have to narrow the housing some though (not sure what all is needed to narrow an AL IFS housing, though it seems I've seen it done).

Thanks. . .at least I know what to look for now.
