Search some builds, and you will see pics of the plates you need. Buy that explorer, and look at the headers. You will shudder.

Yes, get that Explorer if it seems to be in good shape. Does it have all the front dress, brackets and such? You'd have the correct oil pan, solve the oil filter problem, have the good GT-40 heads. You're going carb'd so you could sell that intake for maybe $200. Lots of Mustangers looking for that internal EGR set-up for their upgrades. Being a '96' would sure bet you got them really bad tube type headers, can't believe how Ford even thought about using something that bad.

Kind of slow here (me) today. Here is what the motor mount looks like for the drivers side. The other side is basically a flat plate.

Here is a shot of how restricted the primary tubes are with the tube type Explorer manifold.

Just another restriction.

thanks for the info those plates do they bolt to the block or is that the mount on the crossmember?

Sorry for not the whole story. Those plates are designed to bolt to the block and then you use the 4.0L sohc frame isolators. That is just the plate for the drivers side, showing top and bottom. Was also going to mention that the posted thread below this one did about the same swap but efi. Posts by Dasfinc.
