98 Ranger Column shifter stuck

I have a 98 ranger with the 4.0 liter engine with an automatic transmission. This started today. The shifter will not come out of park. Is it an easy fix or difficult. Thanks

There is an electric shift lock for Park, Shift Lock Actuator
When you press on the brake pedal the brake light power also goes to the Shift Lock and pulls out the pin that holds it it Park.

So first see if you have brake lights, if not then fuse blew and replacing fuse should get brake lights working and shift "unlock"

If fuse is blown then could be trailer wiring has a short or if you have a canopy its 3rd brake light has a short
