98 4.0 lousy running bad MAF? NEED HELP NOW!

My truck has 178xxx 2wd 5spd. When driving it runs lousy so i unplugged the MAF sensor it seems to run fine but still lacks some power. could this be the sign of a bad MAF or is it something else? NEED HELP NOW!!
