Just need assistance from the master’s here, I have been addressing my brake issues with my truck. All research of mine says I have a 9 inch drum brake per door tag (Axle 86) and axle tag (7.5). However, when i pulled the old one, its says I have a 10 inch drum brake 256 mm. Would it be possible this would have 10 inch from factory? See photos thanks for all the help

Code 86 is just open 7.5 with 3.73 gears. Doesn't tell you anything about the brakes. I can't read your axle tag enough to know what all it says. The biggest factor is unless you bought it new or know every owner pretty well, anything is possible.

People swap parts to gain better equipment... like brakes.

You definitely have 10 inch brakes in your pictures.

Be sure to take a pair of channel locks and close up the horseshoe clip on your park brake lever. If it falls off... it will likely ruin your brakes.

Is there a way to tell if axle was original to the vehicle?

Thread moved to brakes.

From the pictures provided, I concure that they are 10" brakes.

Typically, 7.5" axles come with 9" brakes but that isn't to say that is 100% of the time. So, when getting parts, make sure you get stuff for 10" brakes since the auto parts places data bases aren't always right.

I've had problems getting the right universal joints for my driveshaft in the past on one truck. And a lot of them insist my 2011 never came with 15" rims even though that is the size rims that came with the truck off the dealer lot.

So, verify what they are trying to give you.

The more I work on my truck, the screwier the parts database seems to be. I've all but given up getting parts by application and focus on dimensions when possible these days.
