I want to post this because it has caused me some real grief and I would like to get this out there to help anyone who has gone thought the pain of egr related issues.

I discovered that my egr valve issues were being caused by the back of the egr casting being rusted enough to create a small hole that caused the pressure imbalance codes to occur and costed me money and wasted time.

This would be somthing that you could check with a small mirror and flashlight as it is on the side facing the engine close to where the pipe thread in and is not apparent when you look at the engine. I fought with it for about a year until at last resort i replace egr and all was fine since. if I had known of it, I would have tried to patch if with somthing as replacing the egr was a real Pain in the butt ( as you can see from the cut marks on it!)

I am posing a pic of where mine rusted out (attachment).

Bob
