95 Ford ranger no speedometer and truck keeps stalling

I have a 95, 4.0L, 4x4, 5 speed and the speedometer was kind of in and out for about two weeks and has since stopping working all together. I figured from the p0500 code it was throwing that the VSS was bad but after replacement my speedometer has still not come back. and ever since the speedo speed working (more frequently now than before) the truck is stalling when depressing the clutch to slow down any ideas would be highly appreciated I'm just trying to figure out if what I'm dealing with is actually a sensor issue or a wiring problem

Did you replace the VSS? I'd be checking the wiring to the VSS.

Also check your block-to-body ground. If that goes bad, the gauges do funny things and all sorts of electrical gremlins appear.

VSS was put in yesterday and still have the same problems and the wires looked alright. By the block-to-body ground do you mean engine block to body or distribution box to body thanks for your input

Also is there a way to test the speedo in the cluster to see if it went bad

Fixed it there was no ground to the VSS. Re ran the new ground and it now works perfectly
