94 ranger, replaced all ignition, wont run

not throwing any ignition system codes. usually it will if the ignition is causing the havoc. Still have the ICM tested (it's free) then i'd have a look at fuel pressure numbers. And you're sure the timing belt didn't jump a tooth?

100% sure, I checked it

i took both ICM's and had em tested, the old one is F'ed but the new one works.

I installed it and it still acts like it did in the video =(

I went around to all the connectors and jiggled them in hope that its a loose connection... still nothing

BTW, while I was messing around with the harness around the under hood fuse box I noticed there is another spout.... do all rangers have 2 spouts?

i was thinking... it wouldnt be the MAF since it only adjusts the fuel air under load, maybe its the MAP or "barometric pressure sensor" and its running REALLY lean

ECT has some pretty good influence over the PCM. Just saying. It can cause the engine to dump fuel and flood an engine out. You pull a spark plug and see if it is fuel soaked?

I'm also pretty sure there isn't a MAP sensor on a Ranger 2.3.

after digging around on the net, I can only come to conclude that there is no BPS... some people say its apart of the EGR sensor thing mounted on the firewall... but I have my doubts.

and i recall unplugging the MAF when the truck was running and it kept running like the MAF was useless....

but how would the engine know to keep running if it cant sense incoming air? plus the schematic I got from autozone.com says theres a BPS in the system somewhere.

also, when I installed the new CPS I used some calipers and measure the inside of the bolt hole on the crank to the edge of the CPS, when I installed the new on I used these measurements to ensure its where it was last time

excuse my french but holy shit I fixed it!

Not gonna believe this but I had the wire for the emissions coilpack plugged in wrong... which was firing the pistons at the wrong time...

I originally though the plugs were on the exhaust port and didnt matter....

either way, I had a bad ignition module..

hope this little thread hopes some people that know how to use google!

thanks again for everyones help!

Just a side note about the oh-so-reliable ignition control module. I had mine tested at the local Advance Auto and it tested fine. However, when I replaced it on a hunch, my engine started backfiring horribly (ruined the muffler in the process and scared about 20 people within earshot...). Found out that 1) the plug wires weren't connected in the correct order, and 2) the icm was bad after all. Exactly what was wrong is beyond me, but there was an obvious difference between the two. Once I put the plug wires back in the correct order (after running that way for about 1.5 years...) and put the new icm back on, the engine ran better than ever. Lesson learned : don't trust the icm testers and always MARK YOUR DAMN PLUG WIRES on the 8-plug head! =)
