94 Exp Custom Radius Arm Build

Now Im really thinking of ditching the superlift coils for the softer XJ ones.

Not gonna work with your steering like that.

No two ways about it, softer coils will require your steering angles be absolutely correct, otherwise it's going to jack & dive and do all sort of weird & crazy stuff (the restriction that is the stiff coils tends to mask the ill effects of poor steering... remove that mask, and, well... )

Take a read through this posting from years ago, another user here had already gone through this same dilemma:

Thanks for the heads up, I read that entire thread. I havent had any of the weird issues that were mentioned in the thread even with the steering linkage not level. However I dont want them so it looks like my only option is that Skyjacker pitman arm before the softer xj coils.

Yeah it's critical the steering be absolutely in phase with your axle beams at static ride height.
You might need to drop your 5.5" lift down to 4" with XJ coils because even with the bigger drop arm you'll still have a 1.5" disparity between where your steering is mounted and your axle beams (that or build a custom steering linkage of some sort instead that drops down the full 5.5").

When I built my BII in '04, the steering was initially off only a mere ¾" or so. It was driveable with the XJ coils without much drama, but I could still tell there was a little fighting going on between the two front tires because of the toe changing with suspension movement. I lowered my K-link's centerlink down that last ¾" and it completely went away in normal driving. (I can still tell it wants to scuff a little bit with it turned all the way to full-lock due to the ackerman not being perfect, but at the speed of pulling into a parking space, this doesn't really matter much)

Some flex? :headbang:

First trip since the long arms. My buddy was impressed with the capability.

What is the length of yours compared to the SuperLift Extended arms. I have those on my Explorer and havent had any issues out of them. I do run the front sway bar though, which limits the flex. I need to build some extended RA's for my Ranger (no sway bars on it) and these look like a good idea (I will have to build the RA mounts as my tranny/t-case mount is different now and all of it will have to work together).

No idea, I made them 12 inches longer then stock tho.
