i just got the truck yesterday and i drove to my buddies about 15 miles away on the hwy. on the way back theres a big hill about half a mile long, well my truck isnt very good on hills at all. so i downshifted to get up the hill and after i shifted back up it was running like crap. i had put 10 dollars worth of preimum in it right before i left to see if it would run better. it still has power and i can still drive it fine but it seems like it doesnt have as much power as it did. it is louder as well but i dont think there is an exhast leak or anything. when im coasting or just not pushing the gas its fine but as soon as i get on it to take from a light or just to go its back to running bad. please help and i can answer any questions

it also shakes more than it did when giving it gas. i was thinking maybe the fuel injectors got clogged cause i was a little low on gas but i had run it lower before that and it hadnt happened

I had a catalytic converter fail once, little louder ,then on the freeway what was left,a ball shaped chunk, blew back and blocked the exhaust . Low speed was fine .
Learned what happens when you don't stay on your maintenance . Plugs ,wires ,air filter injector cleaning stuff that if not done = raw fuel torching the cat and a real wtf moment

93 2.3 also driving them too nice ,low rpm and loading the motor.

:icon_rofl:

im starting to think that its the exhast. the guy i got it off over didnt have the exhast welded its just clamped. theres a decent leak where it bends below the headers to go back to the muffler. it also is fine at low speed but once i get over 55 it starts to struggle. i had someone tell me that if theres no or little back pressure on the old fords that i will lose a lot of horse power so thats my next step

and my plugs and wires are all new i did injector cleaner already. i dont have at catalyic converter tho. it goes straight back to the muffler
