Hey, I'm new to the forum, and I've got a problem with my 1993 2.3 5 speed ranger. Truck just died one day, I unplugged the MAF and it seemd to run decent didn't like to start out but once you where going it was alright. So i replaced the MAF and still wouldn't run let it sit over night ran great for maybe 3 weeks and same thing so I return it and get another brand new one from oriellys and got maybe a month out if that one. Truck sometimes runs great for a week then outa know where wants to die when taking off from litght but once your going its alright. I've replaced maf, tps, battery terminals, cleaned grounds and searched for vaccun leaks. I've gotten code 998 only once Wich I believe to be a harness fault iirc. Another thing I've noticed is when I rev it my voltage on the gauge jumps up a little and it cuts out. Sorry this is so long I just can't figure this thing out it was a great running truck and outa nowhere all this. Any help is appreciated, I will post the fix too for others with similar problems. Thank you. Update. Last night before bed truck wouldn't run unless I unplugged the MAF then after about 5-10 minutes wouldn't run period. Woke up this morning plugged the maf in and drove it approx 20-30 miles to work with out a single issue.

These intermittent issues are always the worst to figure out. In all my years... most times it boils down to poor connections.

I would start pulling relays and checking for corrosion or burnt spots.

Sorry I took a while to get back. Good news! I did what you said and cleaned ever connector under the hood and the 3 grounds I could find and I've gone 500+ miles since then without an issue! Thank you guys so much for the help!
