I bought this 92 a few months ago. The 4x4 has never worked.

I recently rebuilt much of the front end. I decided while doing that job that a line had to be.drawn in the sand. I knew I might have to open things back up when I decided to look at the 4x4.

So .. the problem.

If I put the proper washers, spindle nuts and c clip on the splined end of the front shafts, the hubs will NOT go on.

If I leave the washers and c clip off, the hubs go on but push the shaft in toward the pumpkin. The result is that the front axle shafts are 'disconnected' and dont spin.

I did read somewhere that the wrong spindle nuts might be used and that I should buy the nuts that go with the manual warn hub.
Ps .. I did check the faqs first.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Your thread title says "Auto hubs" but you mention manual Warn hubs in your post. What do you have on it? Was it converted?

Yes, +1 ^^^

If hubs(manual or auto) were on before the front end work then I would say its not a parts issue, its a re-assembly issue
Or do you think that was why the 4WD wasn't working since you got it?

yeah... Auto = automatic transmission .. sorry fellas.

Umm hum .. 4x4 wasnt working since I bought it.

All I can tell you is to jack up the frontend off the ground a little bit, and then play with the hub while turning the tire. You can watch the front axle and hear/feel when it clicks in and watch the axle turn. Just to verify they are or are not working, and if one side is working and one side not. One side working and one side not working means no 4x4.

Ok ... I'll give it a shot. Thanks.
