I have a 1986 ford ranger with a 1989 mustang gt 5.0 in it. I was wondering if I could put the speedometer from a mustang into the ranger without changing the guage cluster. I just think it would be cool to have a 140 mph speedometer in my ranger.

One is round, one is square.

I will let you do the geometry.

You might have an easier go of it if you swap to an 89+ dash. I think those clusters were closer to the shape of the Mustang unit.

Poke around on e-bay for a while. Some of the early Rangers (I think the Saleen one) had 120 MPH speedos. Not 140, but you are never really going to go that fast anyway. If you can find that unit it can be bolted right into your existing cluster.

You could always just get a custom overlay and let people think it's right. 85 in a Ranger feels about like 140 in most newer vehicles.
