I started the truck up and it ran fine for maybe 5 minutes. The idol started to get rough and the truck just died. Truck has a new battery, solenoid, starter, coil pack, plugs, and crank sensor.. I'm completely stumped on what the problem could be. Any ideas?

whats your fuel pressure? is it within range

partially plugged fuel filter?

strainer in tank plugged?

ign control module getting hot and bad ground?

coil pack getting hot going bad?

my guess is a bad fuel pump

Did you double check all the plugs and make sure the distributer was tightened down. With it initially starting doesn't sound to me to be a gas issue but then again.....

It has a 3.0 out of a 97 ranger. Thanks guys I swapped out the fuel pump and filter and it fired right up! Weird though because it had good fuel pressure..

welcome

i recently had the same problem and every time i checked pressure was good:icon_confused:

It's possible for a fuel pump to kick it and be able to supply good head pressure to the rail but not be able to move enough volume to keep the engine running. Usually you can see it in the pressures if you can get it running. If you rev it pressure should hold steady or go up. If the pump is going pressure will drop.
