In my former post I didn't mention that even the air condition is working. The compressor engaged and I feel cool air BUT not very cold. I think all it needs is to be recharged but this is an R-12 system. Any suggestions about what can I do? Thank you so much.

Change it to r134a. Very easy and painless to do. An old system likes these develops small leaks over time, the r134a is much cheaper to maintain it.

There is always a large debate about the "right way" to convert to r134a. Problem is, there are sometimes many different ways to do something and have it work.

Thank you for your answer. You were right. I changed the system to the new freon and it works just great. Now on I go with everything else that needs a little loving care!!
