after all of my experience im frankly kind of tired of mechanical speedo's. i have an itching to attempt an electronic conversion that doesn't need a computer, if thats even possible.my uncle managed to do this but with an electric motor behind the original mechanical speedo to keep the mileage right, before he passed. any input? how would i go about this? or is it just easier to buy a higher quality mechanical speed sensor?

What kind of issues are you having with the mechanical units? If you don't push the trip reset while in motion and you don't run your cable too close to the exhaust so it melts then you shouldn't ever have any problems. Frankly they are much more reliable than the electric ones. Easier to compensate if you change gearing or tire size.

Dakota Digital makes a few speedo interfaces, they even have that "motor behind the dash" unit to drive mechanical speedometer from an electronic speed sensor.

If you are swapping out the dash speedometer to an electronic one then there are several options to get electronic pulse from existing cable gear in transmission or driveshaft.
