I'm picking up a 302ci efi engine, auto trans, loom and ecu out of an 87 bronco to go in my 86 ranger xlt that has the 177ci V6 and manual trans at the moment. Any advice on parts I may need? Will I be able to use my manual gearbox on the V8? Any help appreciated

My guess is that a 302 will not bolt up to the bellhousing of the manual trans you already have. Advance Adapters may sell something to your spec, but using the auto trans it has with it may just be the easier route to go. Any pics of that bad boy?

When I picked the engine up Saturday the guy gave me two bell housing adaptors for manual transmission to go to the 302 so I'm hoping one of those will work. Just need to source a flywheel and clutch to suit. I'll upload some pics shortly

Your v6 trans is going to be a weak point for your 302. I would get a manual out of a 4.2 f150 and have piece of mind.
