So the expo 8.8 in the ranger is a little tired. I've never liked c-clips either. So what options yall used/like? Replace clutches, aftermarket lsd? Would definitely like it to be 2 tire fryer. Hit n miss now. 2wd v-8 swapped t5. 3.73 I think

If you can get the clutches for the OG, replacing the clutches would be the most budget friendly. I'm not sure if an aftermarket model would perform any better than the factory model.

A gear driven LSD doesn't use clutches and doesn't need the additive like the clutch type needs. As far as I know, Eaton and Torsen are the only ones who make them.

As far as the c-clips, there is a thing called the C-clip eliminator. There might be a model for an Expo axle but I'm not sure.

Either a gear driven limited slip like a Truetrac or Powertrax Grip Pro, or an auto locker like a Detroit locker or Yukon Grizzly.

I ended up opting for the cost route, which means I just replaced the clutches for $90 with the additive. Worn clutches might be why you are getting hit or miss. If I had the money, I would go with the Yukon option.

On my '90 Ranger I ran an Aussie locker for many years and miles but when it gave out I replaced it with a Yukon Grizzly that I got lucky and everything just went in place when I put it together myself...

Nothing really wrong with C clips as long as you don't break an axle shaft which sucks no matter what you do, if you have disc brakes the chances of the axle shaft spitting out the side is severely reduced...
