Hi Everyone!

This is my first post on the forum, I'm hoping you can help me out.

I have a 2002 Ford Ranger Edge, it's got the 7.5" rear end with Trak-lok LSD.

One of the axle seals has started leaking, and I'm going to fix it soon. Of course I'm cursing that Ford decided to go to these stupid C-Clip axles that require pulling the diff cover off to do this job (This job was so much easier on my '68 Mustang).

Since I'm going to be into the rear end anyways, would it be easy to replace the LSD clutch packs? Can I do this without messing the gear setup (Backlash etc...)?

If I'm not mistaken, I think to get the side gears (and the clutches) out of a 7.5" axle you have to pull the ring gear off the carrier.

However if you put everything back EXACTLY the way it comes apart (make sure all the shims go back where they were, and that the ring gear is indexed back on the carrier the way it was before), you should be fine.
