So I am lookin at doing the 64in swap with a flipped shackle.
1st Would i need to cut holes in my bed?
2nd Would I need to use Bell Tech 6400's?
3rd How much do i need them rearched if at all?
4th Since you have to move the front mount foward a bit will that screw with how far foward the axle is?
I am wanting to have about 2-3 in over stock so i can ditch my blocks.
Thanks in advance, Ben

1) not unlessyour planning on running a bed cage to mount some longer shocks too
2) the seems to be the shackle of choice im sure you could use many others though
3) 12 inch i belive
4) the leaf is longer ans you need to move both the front mount forward and the shckle back so i assume the axle should stay in approximately the same place

that being said i havent done the swap i have a buddy that did it though and im planning on doing it but that brings up a question of my own..

when my buddy did it he said that his leafs de- arched like 5 inchs right away, they were junkyard leafs not new but im worried about this happening, he got them rearched again and added an overload leaf but now it rides a little stiffer than what i would want, has anyone else done this swap and had the same problem? and what was your solution... thankss (sorry for the thread jack)

there is a sticky in one of the suspension sections that covers some of this

the 6400 is the usual shackle, tho a stock size shackle will work as well. the long the shackle the more flex you will gain (to a point), and the more efficient the shackle flip will be.

in the write up on the 64 swap in the tech section, it says you only have to move the front hanger forward, due to the location of the center pin in the 64 chebby's, the axle location stay's the same. however, to obtain the correct shackle angle at ride height, you might have to play around with the rear, maybe someone else can chime in here.

i would def take off the overload on the chebby's for almost any application. this will help it from being too stiff.

as for rearching, you will need it if you want to get rid of the block, and more rearching if you are using a shackle reversal. you loose height with a longer shackle on the shackle flip.

I needs it to be nice an soft for the quick stuff...

if your plannin on using it for racin around in the desert you wont benifit from it unless you put a progressive rate spring pack in, let alone if you dont put longer shocks on. all you really gain is flex
