So, I have a 6.0 in my storage from some time ago.

I also originally planned on a 302 swap from an Explorer/Mountaineer, into my 98 Ranger- I have motor mount plates from Ricks and the 4.0 frame mounts (to replace the 2.5 weaker mounts). And an early 80s dual snorkel 302HO air cleaner... :) Since then, I discovered the 6.0 swap/ I would need a 4L80 trans, and the 8.8 rearend I will need.

My Main concern is- I want my air conditioning. It is a Must, for me.
I believe there is an easy way to swap the 351 in and keep air.

But I can't find any info about what it would take to put AC in a 6.0-swapped Ranger. I have the info to build a 495hp/450 lb. torque 6.0, without much effort. The Holley Sniper would be the high-cost factor here, around $1,000. And a good cam/lifters/rockers.

I don't know how much streetable power I can make with a 351W. But I should be able to use the Rick's motor mounts/plates, am I right?

Thoughts? :geek:

Well, you have all the info on this forum for the 351 and there is a ton of it specifically for the Ranger.

The 6.0/LSX engines a ton of info on www.LS1tech.com but it's across all sorts of platforms.

It really depends on how much effort and homework you want to do.

The big question is what is your image you have of the truck. Daily driver, sleeper, road course, track, or show. From there you will have a better path to follow.

I would just go with a nice 5.0L/302 and get the best cooling I could for the engine, since you are sticking a condenser in front of it, and worry about fitting the evaporator core if you are going with a total 5.0L A/C replacement.

I'm using a Sandeen compressor and will be making AC lines to fit.

AC compressor is on the left side of the photo. I'm using a LS2 serpentine setup with KWIK Performance kit to move the compressor to the top.
