I swapped a 5.0 and M5OD into my bronco ii when i tried to press the clutch pedal its it moves maybe an inch and then is solid. All i can find on the internet about simial issues seem to be related to not being bled or line popping off. I dont think this is the issue im having though.

The engine and trans came out of an abandoned ranger swap project so I'm not exactly sure what they came from orginally. My fear is there is some mismatch with the bellhousing and the slave can't extend any further. So my question is there a bellhousing that requires a longer slave cylinder?

The master, line, and slave that i origanly installed was a pre-bled set off of rockauto, i thought they were for a later 90' f150. This set up was not working so pulled the trans, clutch, and flywheel to see what they were. I couldnt find any part numbers i could look up but the fly wheel is a later model 164 tooth. I then replaced the clutch set, slave, line, and master with 93 f150 5.0 part store parts. The clutch pedal would now go a full stroke until i bled it and was solid again.

If clutch pedal can't be pushed down it usually means the "Quick disconnect" valve is closed

On the end of the master's hose where it plugs into the slave is the quick disconnect valve, when hose is removed the valve closes so fluid can run out from the reservoir

When pushed on to the slaves nipple the valve is pushed open so fluid can flow

There are at least 2 different types of quick disconnects, and the change over was in the 1992/3 time frame if memory serves

But..............................
If pedal DOES go down with bleeder on slave open then that's NOT the issue, because valve is open
It would then be a slave or pressure plate issue
Slave is just a hollow cylinder that can expand toward the pressure plate when fluid is forced in by the master
It pushes the pressure plates "finger springs" in, which pulls the pressure plate back releasing the pressure that was holding clutch disc to the flywheel
So either the slave is bad, can't expand, or the pressure plate is, can't be pushed in

This is the second brand new master and slave, I dont think its bad. The clutch was just replaced and the one that was in there before look like it was replaced and never used.

Its acting more like the slave is fully extened but cant find any cases of the M5OD needing a longer slave cylinder.

M5OD-R2 if its with a V8 engine, but Ranger/B2 M5OD-R1 used the same slave

It should have come with throwout bearing attached, but these can be purchased separately so............
If it had no throwout bearing then slave wouldn't be pushed back all the way so could be extended
But would be fairly obvious something was missing with no throw out bearing

Throwout bearing is installed. I can wedge the end of a pry bar in-between the clutch and bearing pushing the throwout bearing back and it increases the pedal travel.

Am i missing a spacer or something? I know you can use flywheel spacers if u machine you flywheel but the flywheel looks new and clutch is fully engaged not dragging so i don't think thats the issue either.

Is the pressure plate listed to fit M5OD-R2

The clutch parts are for transmission model not engine model as far as fitment, as the bellhousing depth is the length factor

If the starter works then flywheel is at correct distance, so you just have pressure plate thickness to slave

No, never seen a spacer behind internal slave

Both the pressure plate and slave are for a 93 f150 5.0 with the M5OD. I do not have any info on the trans other i know it a M5OD and it will bolt to a 5.0 with the 164 tooth flywheel. I don't know what all shares this bell housing pattern that might have a deeper bellhousing.
