I know it sounds strange, but......

Anyone know if Ford ever offered a 4 cylinder with 4 wheel drive?

Thanks

4-cyl 4x4 Rangers were available '83-'97.

DUDE......Search, Bro. Google it. It has been posted before as well. You can find Toyota 4x4's with 4 cyl motors (I had a few), Ford with 4x4 4 cyl and, Suzuki Sammie's...etc.

I own an '86 4cyl 4x4 with a 5spd. Its about the slowest vehicle I've ever owned. Besides all of my head gasket eating Toyotas.

Nope, you have to go build your own. Check out the RSH build thread.

well my 2.3 is a 96 so from what i have found on research is that it has been cammed from the factory, as well as having the factory tube header, i mean its no 302 but for something that is less than have the size of the motor, it doesnt run to shabby

I wasn't sure google would have the answer I needed. But I knew I could find it here!

Anyway, a friend is in the market for a ranger. He said he would suffer with a 4 cylinder, only if it was a 4x4. Neither of us has ever seen one.

The search is on!

4cyl 4x4 isn't fun. and you wont get any better gas mileage. at least not enough to suffer with no power.

They are ungodly slow but my dad's did return 20MPG for me while driving the holy piss out of it around town for a few weeks, none of the V6s will get close to that (driving around town beating the piss out of them).

IMO I put them in the class of dangerously slow.

^^ Agreed ^^

A proper 2.3 is nothing against a 4.0/302 obviously, but they are a respectable reliable 4cyl in their own right.

they hold their own with a turbo... :)

Are you serious? Google will search TRS as well as a million other sites.
