I am going to be doing a motor swap with my 86 xr4ti. I will be getting a 4.0L sohc long block, coworker is changing the motor in his 05 ranger and adding a supercharger so he said I could get the motor he is pulling. It has just over 100K miles on it and runs fine, it is his daily driver. He will strip the accessories, valve covers, intake, oil pan, etc to put on his new long block. My question is when I'm searching the junk yards to put the block back together what years of vehicles should I be looking at? I will be going aftermarket with the efi, so drive by wire would be nice.

1997 Explorers/Mountaineers had the 4.0l SOHC up to 2010
Rangers and Mazda B4000 2001 to 2012
Mustangs 2001 to 2010

I think some later model year Explorers had drive by wire intakes but not sure it was on the 4.0l models.

I think the Explorer 4.0s started with the ETC systems in 02. If it wasn't 02, it was that body, because my 05 has it.

I think all the Mustang 4.0s had it too.
