Hey y'all, my sport developed a no start condition last week. I was driving to work Monday going approximately 55-60 MPH, everything was fine. I gassed it (eased into it, not hot rodding it) to climb one of the hills on the route and about half way up I heard a single pop that seemed to emanate from under the driver side of the truck. Just as soon as the pop occurred the vehicle developed a serious loss in power; lucky for me I didn't have far to go. The sport died when I came to a stop at my destination and hasn't started since.

I recently (02/2017) had the engine out for a top end rebuild and new timing set. The vehicle wants to turn over and will crank all day long (brand new battery). No codes. The vehicle has less than 130k on it and I have put over 5k on it since the rebuild. The only lead up to this was an increase in cranking time on cold starts.

I have replaced the following in the last year:

Cam sensor
Crank sensor
TPS
IAC
fuel filter
fuel pump
Coil
Plugs + wires
PCV/proper lines
Injectors
fuel rail (cracked the first one, very brittle plastic)

I cant think of anything except maybe a clogged cat? I would check back pressure but it wont start currently. Any help is appreciated

Inspect the crank damper. I have seen them come apart and the pulley walk back and hit the sensor, breaking it.

Check for spark.

Check you fuel pressure.

Get back to us with results.

50/50 test
Spray Quick Start(ether) or Gasoline into the intake
Crank engine

If it starts and dies, then fuel flow is the issue
If it doesn't start then spark, electrics is the issue

50/50
quick and easy

You say it cranks OK, no lope to it so I am assuming Compression is not the issue, but loss of power and then stalling might mean timing chain has slipped.

If you have a vacuum gauge test vacuum while cranking, foot OFF the gas pedal, 3-4" means exhaust is clear, no blocked Cats/Mufflers
Lower could mean blocked exhaust or bad valve timing

Thanks for the responses gentlemen, I will run some more diagnostics on Monday (God willing). I'll post results as soon as possible.
