rust, tick tick, from the push rod/rocker issue... older heads can crack if you beat the piss out of them every day or neglect the proper maintenance schedule.
my 94 4.0 has 250,+++mi and will be getting new push rods and rockers for the first time since the factory build. it has needed nothing else, other than maintenance. it still grins a little more when it has to pull a chevy out of a hole.

Hey all! I will possibly trading my car for a 2001 Ranger. It has the 4.0 and is an automatic. It has 196k miles on it and is lifted. What things should I look for to make sure it's mechanically sound or common problems that these trucks have? Any information will be greatly appreciated. TIA!

The cost of a rebuilt transmission is between $2 and $3,000 keep that in the back of your mind when you're looking at automatics, just saying
