Question about 4.0 radiators:
1. I assume the automatic explorers had a beefier radiator than the manuals, correct?

2. I am doing a 4.0 swap from an explorer with a manual with air conditioning. Would I be better off getting the radiator from a vehicle with an automatic?

3. Do the engines mount in the same place regardless of whether the transmission is automatic or manual?

4. So the only difference between cooling hoses for the automatic and manual are for the thickness of the radiator?

It's easy and fast. The 4.0 for heavy towing/ac is what I used.

Just did it. The radiator goes in fine, stock hoses fit but I replaced them (the trim to fit needs like a 1/2 inch more on the upper.

The real issue is the fan shroud lower holders don't match so you have to Jimmy something and the rad is also much thicker so fan attachment is a pain.

I think I actually run too cool with it...

The one thing I had to redo was wrapping the Trans connectors with thread tape. For the life of me I don't know why ford doesn't use tapperd threats like everyone else.

Manuel you just leave the Trans cooler alone
