Friend bought a set of BFG ATs last year, has maybe 4000 miles on them, and decided to go to MTs, said I could have the ATs if I want, trying to figure out how they'll work. Currently running 236/75-15 wranglers, have the lift for clearance, but tires are getting old and bald.

I know the tire recommended rim size includes 7 inch, but what do they look like and how do they handle when mounted on the skinnier rims?

Thanks!

They will fit fine, but the sidewall will bulge out some. Here are my 31x10.15's on some 15x8's for some reference.

I have 31x10.50s on a set of stock 15.7 steelies. They are fine.

Thanks! I'll go ahead and get them then.
I've seen a few tires that were too wide for the rims, but they were (guess) 12+ on 7s, and I didn't really care for the look or the way they felt on the road, they kind of 'squirmed' on turns.

They look good on the 8s, That was my other option, but I have my mud tires on them and they're kinda beat up and ugly. (Comes from having a mud pit in the backyard!)

I ran 31x10.5" BFG AT tires on my 89 STX with 7" wide 15" dia wheels for almost 200K miles and never had a problem with them. They worked well on and off road. My biggest problem was running them with the 3.73 differential gears. Once I switched to 4.10 gears it was much better. I had a manual transmission and the 3.73 gear used up the clutch to quickly. I also towed a lot with it.

I run them on one of mine . They look great and handle well , no worries .
