Okay, so i rebuilt my 3.0 this past february. I bought it in January knowing it had a spun rod bearing (got it for cheap), and decided i would take on the challenge of rebuilding it. I got it all stripped and ready to send to the machinist, who bored it out .030, redid the main line, and milled the deck surface. I sent the block in with the CPS sensor in it (didn't seem like it needed to be removed) but i received it with the sensor out. I had never seen one of the things so i figured i just needed to put it in and tighten the lock bolt down. And then after the engine was all reassembled i drove it for a few days, then a P0340 code was thrown. I then proceeded to check it out, and it said CPS sensor misalligned, etc... So i read up on how to do it, and the way i did it was put the engine at 0 degrees TDC, and then installed it at the angle the diagrams showed, which was 30 degrees counterclockwise of the center line.. it also said something about marking and all that, but i didn't have the thing in correctly in the first place so i couldn't mark it. anyways, after the install was finished, i cleared the code and the P0340 code came back within a few days. i had a picture of the block before i sent it to the machinist, and saw the angle of the sensor, but instead of 30 counterclockwise, in the photo it's actually about 30 degrees clockwise of the centerline. So i put the engine at 0 TDC, and put it in the way the picture showed, and haven't had a trouble code since, and it's been a few months. My only concern is if the fuel system is out of alignment? i saw in the directions that if the fuel was out of alignment it could screw up your engine. Also, should i go to a ford dealer and just have them install it fresh? if there's no code should i be concerned at all? i don't think it's an issue, but i'd rather not find out.. again its been a few months.. thanks
