I have a 1999 ranger xlt 3.0 with a hole in # 2 piston.
I also have a 1995 that was slavaged by the insurance company, but the engine is fine. both are automatic and both are 3.0. the 99 is flex fuel. And both are 2 wheel drive. Is a long block switch possible ??? I am a certified diesel mech so the abilty and tools are not a issue. Just lack of ford knowledge. Any info would be very helpful...

Thanks.

Use the 95 long block as you planned with the intake, exhaust and accessory/sensor package from the 99 and its a direct swap. If the 95 has a distributor, you can replace it with the CPS from the 99 and the coil pack ignition from the 99 as well.

the only difference from the 95 and the 99 motor is minor things in the block like strengthing ridges. i just rebuild a 96 block and put it in my 2000.
