i have a 2000 ford ranger 3.0l flex fuel engine went out on me
i was wondering what all cars i could use i know some taurus and what not but what all would i have to swap over

and does it matter if its a vulvan or a duratec?

It must be a vulcan. Duratec's will not work. Longblocks are interchangeable for all years, so you can use the bottom end from any Vulcan of any year as long as you keep your heads, intakes, etc. Vulcans were put in all kinds of ford's from the late 80's to after 2000, so you should be able to find one that will work.

Gotta be a Vulcan. If you get one from a Taurus you may want to put the RWD head gaskets on it.

There's a guy on Ranger-Forums (WVCat) who's done a number of 3.0 interchanges.
Claims you can use a non-flex fuel engine as long as you retain the FF injectors in the new engine to match the PCM fuel programming.

If you are willing/able to use a 02+ PCM with your new engine, you can forget about the FF sensor that measures the ethanol content (an expensive part to replace if it goes bad).

so if if i get a 07 taurus motor thats a vulcan i still have to use my heads?

i interchanged the block and heads and its saying there the same so if i get this taurus motor i just take my accesories/fuel rail/injectors/intake/head gaskets/oil pan?

my question is what about the oil pickup tube and oil pump? i plan to put in a new oil pump before i install it so should i get a rager oil pump? or taurus pump

and what about the water pump ive heard some people say i might have to use my water pump

Pretty sure they quit using the Vulcan 3.0 in the Taurus around 04. Be very sure that the engine you're looking at is a pushrod, Iron block/heads Vulcan. If it says anything about being DOHC, or Duratec, then you won't be able to use any of the parts on your truck.
You can use the heads from a Taurus motor if you need to, but you will need to use your injectors to keep from confusing the ECU. Switch out your head gaskets and lower intake manifold too.

its showing vin U vulcan/ ohv/ gas

btw thanks a lot for responden man haha

Ford still produced the old Taurus/Vulcan combo until 07 for fleet vehicles.
