I recently got my grandfathers 1998 ford ranger, It is a XLT 2wd extended cab 4cyl 5 speed manual, and I see a that the explorer engine is a good engine to put it in but I don't know what transmission to put in it to keep it a manual. Thanks for anyone who responds and sorry if I this has been posted a million times i'm new to TRS and couldn't find anything.

96 up handshaker from a v6 150 or the earlier inline and windsor applications. they are the mazda m5odr2. the later v6 unit has a more desirable shifter location, but usually have to drill the holes out a bit in the bell. or a t5 from a mustang....still a few v6 t 5 around cheap.
