25th Anniversary TRS Ranger

New Ranger but throwback styling and paint? like they did with these F150's?

View attachment 82042

Actually the "traditional" TRS truck paint scheme thus far is retro-inspired from the BFGoodrich/Ford Rough Riders from the 90's

Whatever it is you should stuff one of those new Godzilla motors down in it hahaha

This forum is supposed to be ap lace for all Ranger owners right?

If you go by commonly accepted generations according to Wikipedia (I don't) there have been 4 generations of Ranger this far.

TRS-1 is/was a first gen lifted 4x4 offroad truck (<is it still around?)
TRS-2 is a second gen lifted 4x4 offroad truck

Currently no representation for third gens or lowered street trucks.

My vote is for a gen three, 1998-2011 Ranger. This generation is old enough to be affordable and new enough to carry a strong aftermarket how ever you decide to build it.

Since 2008 was the 25th anniversary of the Ranger, I think that would be a fitting platform to build for the 25th anniversary of TRS.
Build it into a lowered street truck to spread the love around and show inclusion for our street truck crowd.

I know that's not likely to happen, Jim seems more of an offroad truck enthusiast than one for street trucks. Doesn't make sense for him to build a street truck if that's not the scene he's into.

My next vote would be for a 2019+ offroad truck to welcome the new crowd and embrace the continuation of the Ranger in it's current form.

You definitely make a valid argument. Love the thinking behind a 2008 Ranger.

Fawk Wikipedia.

I follow the same method used with F-150's. The generations change with the body styling. Check out the pic above.

I'm thinking about trading my 2016 F-150 for a 2019+ Ranger. That would give me a newer Ranger to modify and be relevant. I think it would be a good investment and make a newer Ranger obtainable.

If I could find a Gen I Ranger I'd like to take all of the parts off of TRS-2 and build a tribute to TRS-I.

One of my concerns is that I've bent some of my Skyjacker brackets and can't find a Superlift Superrunner 1134 steering kit. Also not going to find a Lund cab spoiler. 🤷‍♂️

I agree completely, but I've given up on arguing it with everyone else. I tend to look beyond just the facelift, there were also notable suspension (on 2wd atleast) and other changes in there even if they don't line up exactly with the style changes.

Only ones shown there that I don't consider to be different generations is the 4 and 5. That was nothing but a facelift. As far as I'm aware Ford didn't significantly change anything but the nose from 1998-2011. Just my 2 cent.

Besides if we go by the wiki format in this instance, you only need three trucks instead of five to cover all Rangers pre-reintroduction.

Not with that attitude!

Slightly different style which would have better rearward visibility:

93+ style which actually looks more like what TRS-1 had. I wonder if it is what you had actually, I know the topper on my truck is off a third gen (as in the 93-97 flavor) and everything lines up perfect.

There are a bunch of them on ebay right now.

Works great as long as you are ok pretending 2 generations do not exist.

Ya...... $500!!

I think you missed almost the entire point of what I was saying in that post. Whatever, not worth arguing over.

Jim, what ever you decide on building, I've got no doubt that the end result will be just as awesome as the previous two.

Wikipedia- The content free encyclopedia anyone can edit.

I dont put alot of faith in that place when it comes to car stuff. Everytime you see the 302 mentioned, that everyone knows is a 5.0, it always says 4.9L, and some pages mention the 351 as a 5.7. I realize by the math thats true, but in real life they are 5.0 and 5.8.

Thats just one example of the mistakes that abound in the wikipedia auto-verse

I put the same amount of faith in wacko-pedia that I put in skydiving without a parachute.

So fix it. Afaik, Wickopedia is by the people for the people. If you know better then make it better for everyone.

I had a lund moonvisor on my ‘88. It was around $250 new. I dont know why lund went under, they had some cool stuff.
