Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2024-2025 Ford Bronco and 2024 Ford Ranger models over an issue with the front control arms.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the front upper control arm ball joint nut may not have been installed or tightened properly, allowing the front upper control arm to detach from the knuckle assembly.

The hazards: a detached control arm can cause a loss of vehicle steering and control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Components: ball joint fastener

Affected vehicles: select 2024-2025 Ford Bronco SUVs produced between June 1st, 2024, and September 5th, 2024, as well as select 2024 Ford Ranger pickups built from June 3rd, 2024, and September 4th, 2024

Number of vehicles affected: 2,416

The fix: dealers will inspect and verify that the ball joint fastener is tightened properly. If a fastener is loose or missing, the dealer will replace the ball joint and knuckle assembly as necessary, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on October 28th, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24S64.
