My credo
Give 'yer balls a tug. Fight me.
Cleaning up and cross posting tailgate rant for some help. Having a power issue with my 2011 XLT 4x4, manual trans.

First 10 mins it's running feels what I would imagine it should feel like. Then gutless pos dog after 10-15 mins that gets reeeealy gutless after about an hour of driving.

Has an occasional misfire, but not enough to set a code. On a typical 30-60min drive, I'll see a few on for scan. Thought I felt one a few days after purchase, and has been doing it ever since. No specific time, engine load, or driving style when it happens.

So far have replaced plugs with oem Motorcraft, wires also oem, coil pack (accel), old one looked swelled and puffy in a few spots (Is that a thing?), Maf sensor with Hitachi oem.

Modifications done are zip tied throttle cable, k and n drop in air filter (sue me), air box restrictor removed. Have reset computer multiple times. I think. Idk how TF these terminator machines work. Have reset adaptations in fors an, but it won't let me completely reset the pcm. Did battery reset where shorted positive battery wire to negative terminal when disconnected, then let it sit and idle blah blah blah for module re-learn.

Other weird crap it's doing is every now and then it won't start first time from dead cold. Longer it sits harder it is to start. Took three tries the other day in heated garage after sitting for 24+ hours.

Ran jectron and intake valve cleaner. Perked up a few days after valve cleaner then back to awesome the first mins then absolute ****ing dog. Running stock 2004 fx4 16" rims and tires.

Now getting ready to do upstream O2s. They look funky on a scatter plot. Don't know, I'm used to looking at a wideband. ??‍♂️

No codes/dash lights. Had constant lean code and p1000 when I had an aem intake on it. Maf housing is wrong size on that, but not by much. Took it back off until I figure out the power issue.

Slamming my head against a wall. I know very little about fuel injection in anything post-2004.

Have you checked fuel pressure?

Returnless system with regulator in tank. Mine had issues like hard starting... one day wouldn't start at all. I didn't notice the warm drivability issue... but I suspect I don't run mine as hard. My fuel pump actually still worked... the regulator just left the building.

Edit... Key ON... pump would turn on and build pressure... as soon as pump shut down... fuel pressure would quickly fall to zero.

Good point. Will toss gauge on it. In tank pump is oddly loud, and is exact same pitch and volume as the Kemso 340lph that's in my 88. Have wondered if has aftermarket pump or one that's dying.

My pump has been insanely loud for the past 11 years. I think the noise is just a ford thing.

Stupid question and probably totally in left field but...

Did you try checking the coolant sensor with a meter? Maybe its still in range but not reading properly. If that makes sense.

An 11 still has an external fuel filter, it might be worth replacing it and dumping the contents of the old one into a clean container to see what you've got. I agree with the others who suspect the fuel pump.

Sorry Walt, should have mentioned, replaced fuel filter as well. No change, but was original one, so probably worth doing as a preventative maintenance item.

I've seen cats cause a loss of power when hot, too. If the substrate is broken up it can intermittently cause restriction.

Yes, +1 on restricted exhaust

Do vacuum gauge test BEFORE and AFTER warm up and compare results

Mine doesn't start right up like it should cold from time to time. I'm wondering if it's a dribbling injector problem. I need to get some for the Spring preventative maintenance thing anyway, so I'll see if it's any better after a tank full with cleaner added fixes the issue. That and it's probably time to give the throttle body a good cleaning. It hasn't been done since I bought the truck. Shame on me.

Yes, this right here.... it seems that 09,10,11s’ had issues with the cats! They seem to be pretty isolated, but I can tell u mine were dead before 119k....worth looking into for sure??

My driver's side cat took a shit in 2018. The passenger side one seems to be fine so far.
:dntknw:

I think you may have two separate issues, but the losing power after driving a while does sound cat related to me.

Fun fact: Engines is goes vroom.
