Will a 2011 rear end from a 2wd be a direct bolt in to a 1994 2wd? Both have the same gears. Would like to get an idea before I have it shipped.
I know the disc brakes will need to be plumbed in. both are 8.8.

Maybe.

The axle tubes are bigger. So you’ll need new u-bolts. They should be changed anyway. And you will need the plate that goes on top of the leaf springs.

There are ABS sensors that are probably going to completely useless to you other than plugging the holes in the axle.

The flange on the front of the differential might be different, as in bigger.

You already know about the disc brakes.

Mechanically, it’s probably workable. If you have any kind of electrical hook ups on your existing axle, they definitely won’t be the same on the new one. If you don’t have ABS or RABS, it’s probably a nonissue and will only have the mechanical issues to sort out.

I just remembered. The ends of the parking brake cables are probably going to be different. So, you will need, at a minimum, the rear portions of the cables. You may need the front portion as well since the link may be different.

no provision for ring gear sensor on the 2011
the axles are 28 splines at the diff, they do not interchange with anything else.

the disks have integrated drums for the parking brake
the disk mounting holes on the ends of the axle housing are unique.

the up side is large 11+ disks and the bigger 1.6" wheel bearing.

if you're going for a custom rear suspension the diff housing has the bung for the track bar pivot.
these are 2011 & 1994 axles.
