Product sheets for the Ranger (I4 and V6) and Exploder (V6 and V8) show two different specs for the V6. For the Ranger its the 4.0-liter SOHC V-6, 207 hp @ 5,250 rpm, 238 ft.-lb. torque @ 3,000 rpm. But the Explorer has a V-6 with 210 hp @ 5,100 rpm, 254 ft.-lb. torque @ 3,700 rpm.

Are they different motors? Is it just a differance in intake or exhaust? The Ranger page calles it the 4.0 SOHC, but the Explorer one doesnt.

Also the Lincoln MKS shows a 3.7-liter V-6 engine, 273 hp
@ 6,250 rpm, 270 ft.-lb. torque @ 4,250. Is this new, or has my head been stuck in the sand? I have heard of the 3.5 Ecoboost and the 3.0 Duratec...

The two 4.0's are the same, probably if anything a slightly different tune and exhaust.

The plain jane 3.5 puts out 263 hp at 6,250 rpm and 249 lb·ft at 4,500 rpm right now, it stands to reason that they could squeeze a tad more out of a 3.7 without ecoboost.

I don't think they are planning ecoboosting the 3.7, just the 3.5.

Even rumors about a 3.7 NA with 315HP going in the 2011 Mustang. Have to wait and see.

I seen that they are bringing back the taurus sho. Isn't the sho a different motor as well.

Notice how the torque number for the Ranger is at a significantly lower RPM than the other motors? It's like that for a reason.

Yep, things at Ford are changing. Using the 3.5L DOHC that first showed up in one of the Lincolns and a Mazda. Now they added twin turbo's to it, getting 365 HP.

Not impressed with the 2010 Ranger at all. I guess the South Americans and AUS and even the Europeans will be getting much nicer stuff then us. How nice of Ford. This is why I will not be updating to a new Ranger anytime soon unless I go south of the border and buy one and bring it back to the U.S. or Ford does an complete overhaul of the Ranger.

The only thing they have out is spy photos of a test mule with a patched together body. No stats, no final photos, just a test mule.

Twin Turbo goodness!!

Direct injected twin turbo goodness :icon_thumby:

You must be thinking of the 2011 remake of the Ranger, 2010 looks the same.

Future is going to be hard to tell with the newer motors coming out. Saw that the EcoBoost was designed to go out to a 4.0L max displacement. Throw some twin turbos on that, add a little bit more boost and a more aggressive computer tune and you'd be over 420 hp easy. Think Ford is really looking into the future, cheby and dogde are trying to catch up.
