2010 2.3l ranger looking for more power

The SCT line of products is the most commonly used and best supported tuner for Fords. You can go to their website and enter your ZIP to find the dealer/tuning shop nearest you.

DiabloSport is another option, but seems to be a bit less popular.

Really, the handheld tuner is just a storage device, and the brand you choose isn't critical. What is important is the tune or file that is stored in the tuner. Make sure that you're getting a tune that is custom written for you and your needs instead of a generic ' one size fits all' or canned tune. Expect to spend $400-$500.

just did some checking on your info and of course it cant be used or sold in california which is where I am ;brownbag; damn this place sucks, so it looks like im out of options except buying another ranger...sheeesh unbelieveable

I agree that a different vehicle sounds like the best option if that's what you're looking for.

But, I'm certain there are tons of people in California with aftermarket tuners, and I'm curious how they get them? So many engine modifications require a retune. Every supercharged Mustang, cammed out ZO6 or Subaru with a Cobb Accessport has been retuned and there are tons of them around. If you want to keep your current truck and do a tuner, I'd talk to some local car guys with modded rides and see how they get away with aftermarket tunes.

not many modded rangers around where I am just prius lovers LOL...I guess what I could also do is have a stock map program and remap for any emission tests then go back after could be a possible option...also, what type of lightweight rim tire setup would you recommend over my stock 215's and steel wheels?

plus im pretty sure a catback is legal here as is a k&n setup...but im sure sacramento has another grand plan to eliminate that one day lol

Don't limit yourself to Ranger owners. Look for cars that are commonly modified like Mustangs, Camaros, Subarus, etc. If you see/hear a newer vehicle that has obviously had engine work done, ask the owner how they get away with it, and where they had it tuned. Then apply that to your situation.

Wheels and tires depend on what you do with the truck, what your style is like, and what your budget is. Generally, lightweight wheels and tires aren't cheap but if you have stock steel wheels then changing them out for Aluminum Ranger wheels from Craigslist or someplace can save some weight and be pretty cheap.

I still think a different vehicle (a v6 Ranger, or something entirely different) is a better answer in your case than trying to modify your truck with one hand tied behind your back. If I'd known you were in California when I first posted I would've suggested that first.

thats all on me my apologies, I just didnt realize how much a limiting factor it was until I looked into it....but I shouldnt be surprised because I think the state motto here is "limiting factor"....thank you for all your help
