My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
This is probably one for our service tech friends. My mom has a 2009 flex. Driver seat has a million adjustments with memory settings. I adjusted the seat back a few days ago to drive the car. And when she tried to put the seat back to her position, there is no response from any of the seat controls. I found a fuse under the hood #32 and it appears to be good. Swapped it with another fuse and still no seat movement. Passenger seat works.

So I've been trying to find wiring diagram for the seat on Google. No luck. I did order the book from eBay. But that won't arrive for another week. Mom's having trouble reaching the pedals. Closest diagram I have found is for an F150 of same year. Appears to have the same adjustments and memory.

Diagram shows a "Driver Seat Module". Has a separate fuse? I assume this module reads position feedback signals, saves memory settings and controls automatic movement to memorized positions? Is it likely that by removing and reinstalling the fuse for the module I might be able to reset the module and restore functionality? Or is this module a common problem child that I just need to replace?

She's going to bring the car over tomorrow so I can troubleshoot it. I didn't have tools with me today at her house. Plus I didn't have diagrams or knowledge if the circuit.

Any advice?

I don't have a bunch of experience with Ford seats. But are you sure when you changed the seat position for yourself it didn't just re-write the memory position for the current and lose the old stored positions?

I know some GM models would do that when using the key fob. Seat positions would be reset with an unlock function from fob 1 or fob 2.

Just a thought to ponder....

I know most libraries have access to software similar to alldata for wiring diagrams and troubleshooting steps on their websites.

maybe take a look on your local library’s website to see if they have the same. If not I may be able to see if mine has a wiring diagram for you.

No response from any seat controls at all. Push any button= no worky

Looking at the drawings, I should be able to move the seat into position for her even if I have to order the "module".

I'm sorry... I thought it was a memory seat function you were trying to perform.

Well, I just had a better troubleshooting session with it. Found the fuse for the seat module. It's good. I have a truckload of choice words for the engineer who decided in the location of the cabin fuse panel/SJB.

I could have done more thorough troubleshooting of the switch. But I can't imagine all the seat adjustment switches going bad at one time.

I found the seat module (DSM) and removed it so I have the exact part number in front of my while shopping for one. Then I figured out which two wires powered the seat forward/aft adjustment motor. Made 2 jumpers and touched them to the incoming power plug for the DSM and moved the seat to a better position for her to drive while we wait for parts. Did not enjoy trying to work under the seat.

So, the Ford part number for this is - 9l3t-14c708-ad

How much of that part number is critical for a match when ordering this part. I can get a new one from Ford for $197. I don't see new ones with that complete matching number anywhere else. Used on eBay go from $43 on up, but no warranty. I'm wondering if I should buy the new one from Ford, or take a chance on a used one, possibly even order 2 used ones for half of what Ford wants for the new part. Trying to save Mom some money. But don't want to buy junk.

Anyway, about the part number. Are the last two letters important? Or can I order one with AK or AE or something like that?
