2008 Ranger 3.0L Cam synchro Question

Hi everyone. I am about to change my cam synchro and sensor. I have read all the info here and watched a couple videos and have a question about the position of the cam synchro housing. I know the vane inside the synchro has to be marked in the same position on the synchro but does it matter how the whole assembly matches the manifold? ie. If the vane is still inline with the synchro , does it matter if the synchro body is off a couple of degrees compared to the manifold? I ask the question because the hold down bolt can be tightened down anywhere on the cam synchro body. Thank you.

I will go out on a limb and say that it probally does not mater so long as the vain is in the same position relative to the synchro housing. Essentially, that sensor has no way of knowing what position the synchro is in relation to the manifold, it only measures each passage of the vain, one on exhaust stroke other on compression. I just replaced mine and it was off slightly from the previous but the position of the vain is exactly where the other one was when I removed it and it seems to run fine. Hope this helps and please correct me if anyone thinks differently.

Buggyman I think you have posted the revs of the crank and not the revs of the cam. That sensor only sends a message once in what we call 4 strokes..
