This may sound crazy but Im asking for any opinions out there on a decision I have to make. I have a 2007 FX4 level II. I am think of trading it for a 2009 XLT 4 x 4 that will be a considerable step down from my Level II. My question is should I hang onto the level II for what ever reason or should I just move on. The level has 41k and has been babied, any thoughts would be great

Why would you get rid of a low mileage two year old loaded truck to eat the depreciation on a new 2009 model with fewer options?

keep the level II. no brainer

good question. I personally think keep the level 2, thye are 4x4 right? that would be the only reason I could see for trading. what engine does the level 2 have what options, what comes with the other one, what color, what kinda seats? give us details.

What is the ONE thing that made you consider the 2009 over the 2007?

Also I would trade for 2010 rather than 2009 they are much nicer.

yeah plus the 2009s SUCK, they sit lower and have nothing! keep the Level II!!! id give my left leg for one!

Well the level has got everything, leather seats, jumpseats, It is a true dual exhast know, I also got it for about 5000 less than it was worth when I traded my edge. Has a 4.10 torsen rear end. alcoa rims. But Im heading in to grad school and like the idea that the vehicle is under warrenty plus Id work a killer deal to which lowers my payment down by 83 bucks

but the 09 has the blank canvas look that would let me modify to my heart's content.

im sorry, but 83 dollars isnt worth it. you can mod a Levell II just as much as you can any other Ranger. You just dont understand that yu have the Truck EVERYONE wants! (at least most do anyways). It is the TOP OF THE LINE Ranger. It doesnt get eny better than what yuo have. It is a major downgrade that jsut isnt worth the $83 less in the payment. Just buy an extended warranty if youre that worried about the warranty. I did. Your're justification just doesnt make sense to me. Dont get me wrong, i love my truck, but it is no Level II Ranger. If i had the option between a brand new ranger and your Level II, id choose the Level II ANYDAY!

Post some pics of your truck!

The longer you make payments, the more money you are paying for the truck in interest. Payments on my '02 F-150 with 25k miles were $10 less per month than the '98 F-150 with 70k that was sitting beside it, but they last a year and half longer.

Personally, I would keep the FX4. The only thing you would gain with the other one is a warrentee... that you will probably never need. According the the Oasis report, the only thing my '02 had done under warrentee was it had a horn replaced and a light bulb in the map light replaced. The only thing that has broken since I have had it (4 years and 50k miles later) is the light switch knob that broke off in the dead of winter, and it was $20 out of my pocket to replace, two license plate bulbs and the third brake light bulb, all three was less than $1 to replace.

I still get crap in the mail trying to get me to buy an aftermarket extended warrentee, so I would imagine someone would want to sell you one too. Be forewarned, any modifications can cause them to void it on you, factory or aftermarket.

Take care of it, don't abuse it, and keep up on the maintenance and it should be a very reliable little truck for you.

yall are just confirming what my little voice in my head is telling me. That im asking the questions just confirms the fact that Im not really liking the step down. I mean I didnt like the super cab configure in the ranger but on this truck it looks...right. But I thank ya for the confirmation.

I have to agree 83 bux isnt worth it. The warranty is a definite plus, but you can buy aftermarket warranty as well. Plus full coverage insurance covers just about everything warranty's do.

I've been looking for one of those for a long time. I gave up. I have the ford dealerships looking lol. I looked at newer rangers, but none I've seen have the seats in the back that I need for my kid.

I agree. Do not get rid of your level 2.
