Hi,

I'm wondering if any one know what size speakers are in my truck. I have the upgraded pioneer system and the rear speakers are not working. I'm thinking about adding an amplifier and an equalizer to turn this stereo system into something nice.
And I'm thinking of adding a small 8-inch sub in the middle and tweeters in the A-Pillars with mid ranges in the doors.

It's a regular cab. But there are speakers or at least mounts for speakers behind the seats.

there very well may be mounts, pull the grates and find out...
they are prety much good for nothing though because the soundwaves go directly into the back of your seat.

i would go for a good component set in your doors and a mid grade 2 or 3 way speaker in the back along with a shallow mount sub behind either of the seat.

what are you trying to get out of your system?

I'm looking for good quality sound. With decent bass. I', not looking to try to win any contests. I think If I did the component speakers in the doors and a shallow mount between the seats that would be all I would need really. I was thinking originally of mounting some mid/low range speakers behind the seats. The system is decent now for a truck its just missing the lower range.

Yeah, the newer regular cabs have slots for rear speakers and have the grilles but only because they kept the same body style since 98. To save on cost they did not put in rear speakers but left a space so you can add speakers back there, there is no wiring to the rear speaker ports either.

For a good sounding system I would get a pair of Component's for the front doors with Dynomat or something similar, and either a small sub or a box with a couple of 6x9's that sit behind each individual seat.

6x9's are a tight squeez so if you are taller that is out but if your shorter
a good suggestion is go to the bone yard and try and find a crown vic with premium sound system and pull the rear 6x9's ther are a sweet stock speaker
with a component mid and tweeter and a single speaker under them that measures 6x9. i have 2 at my house ill try and snap a pic when i get home

Yup I think eventually I will put in component speakers in the doors and might run wires to the rear. As far as speakers I can get quality 6x9s etc for wholesale so price doesn't really worry me to much.
