2003 Ranger 4.0 SOHC in a 2000 Explorer...Any Problems?

My unlce has a 2000 Ford Explorer with a 4.0 SOHC. The motor recently blew. I found a 4.0 SOHC with 30k miles from a 2003 ranger. Anyone think I would have any issues putting the ranger motor in the explorer or is it pretty much a direct swap?

Always do a compression check before putting a junk yard engine in.
The camshaft position sensor is different. The timing of the CMP sensor is usually difficult to set up, unless you can get a Ford tool for it. Use the explorer CMP with the replacement engine. If you use the Explorer wiring harness, it will work fine with the swap.
The intake may be different, but can be swapped easily.
If the Explorer is manual trans, change the clutch slave cylinder when the engine is out.
I believe flywheel is different between auto and manual. Check them.
Check all pulleys and the water pump while the engine is out. Easier to change if needed when engine is out of the truck.

Should be pretty straight forward otherwise.

Cool. Thanks for the help. I'm going to check the motor out on Sat. Is the CMP sensor on the ranger motor going to be very difficult to swap with the one from the explorer? Thanks again.
