2002 Side Mirror Swap

Will side mirrors from a 2002 Explorer bolt on correctly on a 2002 Ranger?

possibly, but likely not as the doors are different. you might be able to take the mirror off of the mounting base and stick it on a Ranger mounting base assuming you have the upgraded XLT mirrors and not the flag style mirrors.

I don’t know if they will bolt on, I want to say something is different. There’s a thing in the tech archives if I remember correctly that talks about using the Explorer mirrors with the puddle lights and it says to open up the Explorer door and unplug the wiring, then knock the outer mirror assembly off the base that attaches to the door. Do the same to the same style Ranger mirror and swap over. There was also a thing about getting LED turn signal glass, but I’ve searched on and off for a few years now and can’t find a valid source for the LED turn signal glass. I‘ve been intending to do the swap on my green Ranger to at least get puddle lights (because I can), but I haven’t got that far with the ”make pretty” side of things yet.

If you have the dumb “flag” mirrors, you need to change the mirror assembly for the other style.
